Editorial Standards
nvxue.org is an independent knowledge platform focused on women’s education, lifelong learning, and practical growth. These editorial standards explain how we select topics, use sources, handle sensitive subjects, correct errors, and protect reader trust.
These standards apply to articles, learning paths, Nüxué Library entries, resource pages, newsletters, and future events or reading groups published under nvxue.org.
1. Our Editorial Purpose
Our purpose is to make learning more accessible, historically informed, and practically useful. We publish content that helps readers understand women’s education, build learning capacity, make informed decisions, and take manageable next steps.
We do not publish content merely to follow trends, create anxiety, or promise quick transformation. A useful article should clarify a question, provide context, and help the reader think more carefully.
2. Content Types
nvxue.org publishes several types of content: historical explainers, practical guides, learning paths, library entries, resource directories, reading lists, and editorial notes. Each type has a different purpose and should be reviewed according to its own standard.
Historical explainers should provide context, distinguish evidence from interpretation, and avoid presenting complex history as a simple story of progress or decline.
Practical guides should help readers take realistic action. They should avoid exaggerated promises, shame-based language, and one-size-fits-all instructions.
Learning paths should be structured, manageable, and suitable for self-paced learning. They should include goals, audience notes, steps, review points, and related resources.
Resource pages should be maintained more frequently than ordinary articles. Any phone number, service route, legal information, public resource, or safety-related item must include a review date where appropriate.
3. Source Standards
We prefer primary and authoritative sources whenever possible. These may include laws, regulations, official statistics, academic institutions, public agencies, international organizations, peer-reviewed research, museum or archive materials, and institutional records.
When a claim depends on a specific source, the article should make that relationship clear. If the source is uncertain, incomplete, disputed, or difficult to verify, the article should use cautious wording.
We avoid using social media posts, anonymous summaries, promotional pages, or unsourced claims as the main basis for factual statements. They may be useful for identifying questions, but they should not replace reliable verification.
4. Handling Historical Claims
Historical content should be careful with words such as “first,” “earliest,” “only,” “founder,” and “origin.” These claims are often sensitive to available records and may change when new materials are reviewed.
When a historical “first” claim is used, we should attribute it to a cited source rather than present it as an absolute conclusion unless the evidence is exceptionally strong.
Historical materials may describe older social norms, but nvxue.org does not treat historical gender expectations as instructions for women today.
5. Sensitive Topics
Some topics require clearer boundaries. These include minors, family education, relationships, violence, safety, mental health, finance, law, medicine, privacy, and personal data.
Content on these topics should provide general educational information only. It should not diagnose a person, assess an individual case, predict personal outcomes, or replace qualified professional support.
When safety may be involved, the article should not imply that better communication alone can solve the problem. If there is violence, coercion, stalking, harassment, threats, or immediate danger, safety and qualified support come first.
6. Financial, Legal, Medical, and Psychological Boundaries
nvxue.org does not provide individualized financial, investment, insurance, debt, tax, legal, medical, psychological, or emergency advice.
Financial content should explain concepts, questions, risks, and learning paths. It should not recommend specific products, providers, portfolios, transactions, return expectations, or borrowing decisions.
Legal content should describe general frameworks and public information routes. It should not interpret an individual case or tell a reader what legal action to take.
Medical and psychological content should encourage appropriate qualified help when general information is not enough. It should not offer diagnosis, treatment plans, or crisis intervention.
7. Writing Tone
Our tone should be professional, careful, and supportive. We should avoid sensationalism, fear-based persuasion, humiliation, gender stereotypes, and unrealistic promises.
We do not assume that all women, girls, families, or readers have the same needs, resources, risks, or choices. Practical suggestions should leave room for different circumstances.
We should prefer clear language over jargon. When technical terms are necessary, they should be explained in plain language.
8. Use of Images, Quotations, and External Materials
Every image, scan, chart, quotation, or archival item should have a recorded source and rights decision before publication.
We should not use images merely for decoration when the source, permission, or rights status is unclear. If no suitable image is available, publishing without an external image is acceptable.
Quotations should be used sparingly and accurately. The article should not rely on long copied passages when a summary or explanation would serve the reader better.
9. Corrections and Updates
We welcome corrections. Readers may report factual errors, outdated information, broken links, unclear wording, rights concerns, privacy concerns, or safety-resource issues through the corrections page.
When a correction is confirmed, we should update the page as soon as practical and, when appropriate, note the change in the article or internal editorial log.
Sensitive resource pages should be reviewed on a shorter cycle than ordinary articles. If a public-service number, support route, or legal reference changes, the page should be updated promptly.
Correction route: /about/corrections/
纠错入口:/about/corrections/
10. Privacy and Reader Safety
We follow a minimal-data approach. Public reading should not require an account, real name, phone number, identity document, or personal story submission.
We do not ask readers to submit sensitive records, private messages, photographs, medical files, identity documents, financial records, children’s information, or real-time location information through public forms.
When a subject is safety-sensitive, we should direct readers toward qualified local support rather than invite public disclosure.
11. Independence and Conflicts of Interest
nvxue.org is independently operated and does not claim organizational continuity with any historical website that previously used this domain.
If a page includes sponsored content, affiliate links, paid collaboration, donated services, or other material relationships in the future, that relationship should be clearly disclosed near the relevant content.
Editorial decisions should not be shaped by undisclosed commercial relationships.
12. Use of AI Tools
AI tools may be used for drafting assistance, structure, language review, summarization of editor-provided materials, or workflow support. They should not replace human editorial responsibility.
Factual claims, citations, sensitive-topic wording, safety information, and legal or financial boundaries must be reviewed by a human editor before publication.
We should not use AI tools to fabricate sources, invent quotations, generate fake expertise, or present uncertain information as verified fact.
13. Publication Checklist
Before publication, each substantial page should be checked for purpose, audience, source quality, internal links, privacy risk, sensitive-topic boundaries, author field, dates, correction route, and mobile readability.
A page should not be published simply because the text is complete. It should also be safe, clear, maintainable, and correctly connected to the rest of the site.
14. Review Cycle
General historical and educational articles should be reviewed at least once every twelve months, or sooner when important sources change.
Practical learning guides should usually be reviewed every six months.
Financial, legal, safety, wellbeing, relationship, and resource pages should usually be reviewed every three to six months, or sooner when public rules or services change.
